This opaque watercolor painting on paper in a Constructivist style had been mounted to an acidic backing board that was becoming brittle. After backing removal, the paper was in a fragile state as it was also very brittle. Because the media and paper were both sensitive to water, a non-aqueous lining method was chosen to give the paper support.
